Erik Forbes:
My name is Erik Forbes. I'm an
Administrator for Evolution Writers --
this means I get to handle some of the technical details of the forum.
I'm also the Chat Administrator, which means I get to handle all those
technical details as well. 
I write almost exclusively in the fantasy genre, although you're not
going to see any of my novels on shelves for some time, as I don't have
any novels published. Recently, I've been doing a lot less writing than
I'd like, between school and administration here.
When I'm not writing or moderating, I'm exercising my talents as a
software developer, writing applications for Windows using VB.NET and
C#. Among my most recent projects has been Glyphics, a program that
lets you open programs with the wave of a mouse cursor, and EvoChat,
our very own web-based Chat system. I've been programming for
approximately 17 years, although it's only been within the past 6 or 7
that I've been serious about it. I have a strong background in
computers -- completely self-taught, however, so it's hard (if not
impossible) to find a decent job in the field. Most recently, I've been
doing odd tech jobs for small businesses in the area, although my
pinnacle in the tech field was working for the CareAlliance group of
hospitals, making changes to their massive networks. That was great.
And when I'm not doing that... I'm bored.
I used to skydive -- I have 12 jumps to my name, all made between
October and December of 2002, but I haven't jumped since... It's an
expensive hobby, and every time I get enough money to where I think
I'll be able to take it up again, something jumps up and hauls me back
down. *sigh* But alas -- I will skydive again. It was a great
experience, and the longing that I feel for it is so worth the
exhilaration I felt when I was experiencing it. I still have dreams,
and my heartrate still accellerates when I think about standing in the
open door of an aircraft at 15,000 feet, preparing to jump.
